Sugar, spice, and everything nice — not to mention Chemical X — are returning to Cartoon Network! Emmy-winning series The Powerpuff Girls, which first started airing in 2008, is returning to our small screens for the long haul in 2016. We know, we know. It's a long wait, but creating perfect little girl crimefighters takes time.
The announcement comes five months after a brief return to TV in January, when Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup fought once more with Mojo Jojo in The Powerpuff Girls: Dance Pantsed. Now, thanks to a rabid fanbase, we're getting the gals back indefinitely.
“As the original ambassador of ‘girl power,’ The Powerpuff Girls brand continues to resonate with people of all ages and there is tremendous excitement around introducing Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup to a new generation,” said network exec Pete Yoder in a press release.
While the existence of a new generation makes the announcement especially timely — after all, some original fans of the series have kids of their own — we're sure even the childfree among us will be all kinds of down to scarf some pizza and binge some brand-new cartoons. Age ain't nothin' but a number, guys.
