Scary news has emerged for actor Anwan Glover, who was stabbed over the weekend in a nightclub in Washington, D.C.
The Washington Post reports that 41-year-old Anwan, best known for his role on The Wire, was at D.C. nightclub Cafe Asia in the wee hours of Sunday morning when two men started punching and kicking him. He heard someone yell, "He has a knife," and then he felt a sharp pain in his side.
Anwan was treated at a local hospital for the stab wound and bruises. It is not currently clear why the fight took place. However, Anwan's rep tells TMZ that the actor is grateful for everyone's well-wishes. "It's helping him get through this," adds the rep.
Sadly, this is not Anwan's first brush with violence. He was reportedly shot 13 times while growing up in the Columbia Heights neighborhood of D.C., and he has since taken part in campaigns to end violence.
Anwan played Slim Charles on HBO's hit show The Wire. He also appeared in 12 Years a Slave and on several episodes of HBO's Treme.
Our thoughts go out to Anwan as he continues to recover.
