Supernatural is back for Season 9 is just a matter of weeks — it premieres on a new night, Tuesday, October 8, on The CW — and star Jared Padalecki (Dean) says that fans should prepare for what he calls “our best season in a long, long, long time.”
In the Season 8 finale, all of the angels fell from heaven... and a world full of fallen angels means things are about to get pretty interesting for Sam and Dean (Jensen Ackles). Jared teased “a lot of cool new characters” coming to the show this year as well as “some great old throwback characters.”
In a new CW YouTube clip, Jared recalls one of the most memorable parts of Season 8 for him: when Sam kidnapped the demon Crowley and subsequently got beaten to a pulp.
“I really found that the script was beating up both Sam and Jared. I felt myself coming to work like, man, I really felt like I was in pain,” Jared says. “I think it translated on the screen. We saw Sam go through a process where we thought he was going to die, and he ended up stopping that process. So he didn’t die, but then we saw him collapse in pain. The most exciting thing for me about Season 9 is finding out how Sam got out of his last predicament.”
You can consider us intrigued. Is it October yet?
