Even a cameo from Samuel L. Jackson couldn’t save Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. from experiencing a pretty sizable ratings dip the week after its record-breaking premiere.

The much-buzzed ABC drama fell 33 percent in week two, landing at a 3.1 demo rating in comparison to last week’s 4.6, The Wrap reports. To be fair, though, 3.1 is still a very successful rating.S.H.I.E.L.D. may have fallen, but it’s still at the top of its game, especially for an 8 p.m. Tuesday show. Last week’s premiere was the biggest TV debut so far this fall. Now the question is, will S.H.I.E.L.D. be able to keep the magic going in the weeks that follow?

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. follows Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg), who was killed off in the Avengers movies but has somehow been brought back to life by S.H.I.E.L.D. and now heads a team of talented, sometimes temperamental misfits as they track down everyday superheroes.

The October 1 episode featured a cameo by Samuel L. Jackson as The Avengers’s Nick Fury. He and his cool black eye patch weren’t in the episode for long, just enough to yell at Agent Coulson for wrecking The Bus.

Are you surprised to see Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s ratings drop, or were you sort of expecting it? And did you return to watch Episode 2 this week? Head below to sound off and let us know.
