Halle Berry is bringing her Oscar-winning gorgeousness to TV!
According to Deadline, Halle will star in Extant, a sci-fi series which will premiere next summer on CBS. This is the movie star's first series regular role in 25 years. (Remember her on Living Dolls? And did you know that she turned down roles on Homeland and Hostages?)
Halle will play an astronaut who returns home from a year-long solo mission and tries to connect with her husband and son in everyday life. This part sounds especially intriguing: "Her experiences in space and home lead to events that ultimately will change the course of human history." Huh.
“I’m always on the lookout for amazing roles and when you see material that contains this strong of auspices, nuance and complexity it compels me to run toward it no matter the medium,” Halle said (via Deadline.) “For five months a year I’ll get to live with and play this incredibly intelligent and vulnerable woman, and for the remainder of the year I’ll continue to look for other roles that move me as deeply as this one.”
It sounds pretty good so far, and it's a big coup for CBS, which launched Under the Dome to great ratings this past summer.
