We bow down before The CW’s Reign, but long before Queen Mary (Adelaide Kane) paraded around the French countryside in her fancy silk dresses, there was another queen in our hearts: Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester).

The Upper East Side fashionista may not have been a princess (oh, what could have been…), but she was the queen of Constance Billard School for Girls, and like every royal, she had a closet full of designer duds — but her signature style essentials were her glorious headbands. She turned a quirky accessory into a must-have fashion trend. So imagine our surprise when we noticed Mary, Queen of Scots was trying to knock Blair off her headband throne!

Sure, Reign might not be historically accurate, but we were too distracted by Queen Mary’s luxurious locks to notice any inaccuracies. (Did 16th-century royals have stylists?)

However, we couldn’t help but wonder if the Reign costume designer had raided the Gossip Girl fashion closet for Mary’s hair inspiration because her royal majesty was rocking some fierce, Blair Waldorf-inspired headbands. Don’t believe us? Take a peek at some of our favorite Reign looks below — and compare them to H.B.I.C. Blair.

Who needs a crown when you have gold?

Blair and Mary could easily pass for two Grecian goddesses.

A sign of their carefree spirits, both Blair and Mary know how to rock a giant flower headband. While Blair went with the more is more approach, Queen Mary let her bohemian flower wreath speak for itself.

It's important to make a memorable first impression. After all, you never know when you're going to meet your future Prince Charming.

What do you think, dear readers? Who rocked this trend better — Upper East Sider Blair or teen queen Mary? Sound off in the comments!
