UPDATE (November 18, 2013):

One of the men involved in the November 15 gang-related shooting on the House of Lies set tells TMZ shots were only fired to "teach the production a lesson about respect," as TMZ puts it. Specifically, the gang involved felt the show's producers should give back to the community where they were filming.

"It would be different if they (producers) went there and helped out my hood ... but they want to use it to make a million and not give us st," the source tells TMZ. He also says he and his crew only fired in the air and weren't looking to hurt anyone.

Original story (November 15, 2013):

Filming for Showtime's House of Lies had a major scare the afternoon of Friday (November 15) when the Kristen Bell and Don Cheadle-fronted drama found itself in the middle of a South Central L.A. gang confrontation.

TMZ reports that Kristen, Don, and rapper T.I. traveled to the area to film a House of Lies scene on location at the Nickerson Gardens housing project. Sources on set tell TMZ that filming attracted a large crowd and that members from rival gangs were among the onlookers.

Apparently, at one point tensions between the gang members began to run high. The TV scene had just finished filming when shots rang out over the set.

TMZ isn't sure how many members of the cast and crew were on hand at the time, but the site was told that bodyguards immediately rushed in to protect them, and that — thank goodness — no one was injured.

Police were called, but the gang members soon left the area after the shooting. Production for the show was then moved to a different location and filming resumed as usual.

Yikes, and we thought our Friday was stressful. We’re never complaining about a rough day at the office again.
