Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson has finally spoken out in public after his controversial interview in the January 2014 issue of GQ Magazine. If you'll remember, the reality star and father of four interpreted a Bible passage from the New Testament to underscore his belief that homosexuality is a sin, along with being a drunkard and prostitute among other things. Phil's quote in full reads:
"Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men [...] Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers — they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right."
He then went even further and said, "It seems like, to me, a vagina — as a man — would be more desirable than a man’s anus. That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical."

These anti-gay remarks got the 67-year-old Duck Dynasty star indefinitely suspended from his A&E reality TV series, though his family remains by his side. And they aren't the only ones who support him. The Daily Mail reports Phil spoke at a bible study group in his home town of West Monroe, Louisiana, on Sunday, December 22, 2013, where he proclaimed that he is a "lover of humanity, not a hater." He affirmed his religious convictions by closing out the session with a defiant message, "I will not give or back off from my path because you conquered death, Father, so we are not worried about all the repercussions." There were a slew of other hot button topics covered in the bible study group, which included his own sexual immorality.
Phil defends the attacks on his person due to his religious convictions with the statement: "We are a bunch of rednecks from Louisiana, but I am not uneducated, I have a degree from Louisiana Tech. But this week I have been called an ignoramus."
Entertainment Weekly reports Phil will be back on the show come January 15, 2014, though it remains to be seen how this will impact his huge base of both fans and detractors.
