Well, that didn’t take long. According to E! News, A&E has decided to reinstate Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson. The outspoken reality star had been placed on an “indefinite” suspension on December 18, after controversial comments he made in a recent GQ interview came to light.

"After discussions with the Robertson family, as well as consulting with numerous advocacy groups, A&E has decided to resume filming Duck Dynasty later this spring with the entire Robertson family," a statement from the network reads. The suspension lasted a total of nine days and there’s no saying at this point whether it had an effect on Phil’s screentime within the upcoming season.

Phil has been one of the most talked about names in entertainment news for the past week, following his controversial remarks about homosexuality and African Americans.  While many have called for his complete removal from the show  — or even scrubbing Duck Dynasty from the network entirely — it seems just as many have cried out in support of the star on free speech grounds. A petition for his reinstatement collected over 250,000 signatures, with many fans using the hashtag #IStandWithPhil to show their support.

Do you think A&E made the right decision?
