Save the cheerleader, save the series!

First 24 gets a special miniseries event, now Heroes. According to Deadline, NBC is reviving the show with a 13-episode standalone arc called Heroes: Reborn, which will air in 2015.

Creator Tim Kring is returning for this series, which will feature a new group of characters. However, NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke added, "We won’t rule out the possibility of some of the show’s original cast members popping back in." Yesssss!

Deadline said the characters and storylines from Heroes: Reborn would first be introduced in a digital series, before the TV miniseries launch.

NBC announced the Heroes: Reborn plans during its Olympics coverage, sharing this promo:

Heroes aired from 2006 to 2010, and the initial must-watch buzz helped to boost the careers of its stars, including Hayden Panettiere, Zachary Quinto, Greg Grunberg, Milo Ventimiglia, Adrian Pasdar, Masi Oka, Sendhil Ramamurthy, and others.

Hopefully the new miniseries will start and end well. Are you excited to see it? If you're keeping score, 2015 will also bring us a spin-off of The Walking Dead, which will also feature all new characters. Everything old is new again!
