What would you do if you found out the woman you called mom wasn’t actually your mom — she was your kidnapper? That’s the subject of MTV’s newest drama, Finding Carter. Talk about drama!

The series follows Carter (Skins’ Kathryn Prescott), a typical teenage girl who is the Rory Gilmore to her mom’s Lorelie. But that all changes when Carter finds out her her mother isn't her mother at all, but is actually her kidnapper. Needless to say, she doesn’t take the news well, especially when she finds out her “mom” is now on the run from the cops. And on top of all that, her biological parents (aka strangers) are coming to take her home.

When Carter is reunited with her real family, she must learn to adjust to new parents — played by Cynthia Watros (Libby from Lost) and Alexis Denisof (Wesley from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) — new siblings, a new life, and even a new name, Linden Wilson. Carter’s struggles don’t end there. Things get particularly tricky when Lori, the “mom” she loves, comes back into her life to try and offer an explanation for the kidnapping. Clearly, there’s more to this story.

Unfortunately for her, she might not have a lot of time to tell it. Carter’s bio mom — a determined cop named Elizabeth — is determined to apprehend the woman who kidnapped her little girl.
