MTV has found its new hit in Finding Carter.  The network announced that it has renewed the scripted drama starring Kathryn Prescott for a second season — and we couldn’t be more excited!

The series, which follows a teenager (Prescott) who learns that her mother abducted her as a child, will return for 12 all-new episodes. Since premiering in early July, the series has averaged 2.2 million viewers. It also ranks as the No. 1 new cable show among 12-34 year-olds and teens, which is a success for the younger-skewing network.

“The creative minds behind ‘Finding Carter’ did an exceptional job bringing this story to life and drawing our audience in,” said President of MTV Programming, Susanne Daniels. “I'm looking forward to another season following Carter on her journey.” So are we!

On the most recent episode of Finding Carter, Carter and Taylor confronted Elizabeth about her affair with Kyle — putting Carter in an awkward position. She convinces her dad David to let Elizabeth move back into the house by granting him permission to write his book about her. But things ultimately go south when Elizabeth tells Carter that David’s been lying to her too; he never set up that meeting with Lori. Can Carter save her family from imploding? Or is it all about to come crashing down around her?

Luckily, we have 12 new episodes of drama coming our way to help resolve this mess.
