When Whitney Taylor wants something, she gets it. And she made that pretty clear when she kissed Lacey at the end of last week’s episode of Twisted. The final two episodes of the season will deal with the fallout of their kiss. Was Whitney manipulating Lacey, or does she genuinely like her? Does Lacey feel the same way?

Wetpaint Entertainment chatted with Brianne Howey about Whitney’s true motives, her badassery, and coming in between Dacey.

Wetpaint Entertainment: So Whitney kissed Lacey, and our mouths dropped to the floor. We were not expecting that! Where is that headed?

Brianne Howey: I am so glad that nobody was expecting that. That makes me very happy. I think Whitney and Lacey have a lot in common, and they sort of meet each other at the perfect time for each of them. Lacey is clearly going through a breakup. Something is obviously weighing her down, and Whitney immediately notices that. She wants to be Lacey’s shoulder to cry on. And Whitney just got kicked out of boarding school, she’s in this brand new town, so she wants to confide in Lacey. They’re kind of like a match made in heaven in that way.

You came in midseason and you already got yourself in the middle of a love triangle!

Yeah! Kind of… I think Whitney has no problem forcing herself into situations. She just sort of says whatever is on everybody’s minds that they’re too afraid to say, and she doesn’t mind making people feel uncomfortable. She’s very confident in that way. She can talk her way out of anything; she would make a great lawyer.

Was this Whitney’s way of manipulating Lacey? Or does she genuinely care for her?

You’ll find out in these last two episodes. But I think there is a genuine connection between them, and they have an immediate rapport because they do get along really well. Whether or not there’s an attraction there, or a romantic attraction, I think you can’t deny that they get along really well. They definitely have a connection, and it’s real.

Are we going to see Danny’s reaction to this connection?

Actually, Whitney and Lacey manage to keep their relationship to themselves in their own way.

Interesting. So we’ll see the fallout from their kiss in the final two episodes of the season?

Yes. It affects both of their lives, and more importantly, it affects the next steps that everyone makes. In the penultimate episode, everyone is starting to connect the dots. Was Whitney aware of how this would affect things? We don’t know yet.

Will we find out what Whitney’s true motives are by the end of the season?

Yes, definitely. Whitney is pretty used to getting what she wants. She’s not used to hearing no — that’s not the environment she grew up in.

So have you heard that theory about Tess revealing Whitney is her biological daughter? What do you think about that?

I think that’s very clever! You’ll have to stay tuned and find out if there’s any truth to that.

How are you reacting to all the fan reaction? Twisted has such a social fanbase, especially the Dacey fans.

I had no idea how passionate their fans were. In a way, I know it’s heartbreaking for some fans to feel like their Dacey is getting broken up by Whitney, but I didn’t anticipate the backlash! It’s very exciting for me, though. I love that they’re so invested.

We’re really excited to see where this relationship between Whitney and Lacey goes.

It definitely takes Lacey by surprise, obviously. I think Whitney was immediately drawn to her. So now the ball is in Lacey’s court because Whitney has made it very clear how she feels and Lacey keeps getting saved by the bell, like with the phone call. So now it’s all up to Lacey to figure out what she wants.

Lacey needed a friends like Whitney. She needs to have a little fun.

For sure! Whitney is definitely a thrill-seeker, and that’s who she’s used to surrounding herself with in Manhattan. She grew up with all these luxuries in the city, and then she moved to a small town like Green Grove, but she doesn’t let that get in her way. Even though there’s not a lot of obvious adventure there, she makes it for herself — and she brings Lacey along. So is she just bored with her surroundings and stirring up trouble or does she genuinely feel this way toward Lacey? That’s the question.

People don’t stay alive for too long in Green Grove, so will we be seeing more of Whitney next season?

Right! [Laughs] That’s a very good point. I certainly hope she stays alive, and there are definitely reasons for her to stick around in Green Grove that are revealed in these final two episodes.

Catch the next episode of Twisted on Tuesday, March 25 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC Family.
