Tyrese Gibson has had a bleak winter. The Fast & Furious star has been denied access to his 6-year-old daughter, Shayla, after ex-wife Norma Gibson prevented him from picking her up. (And this custody drama comes only two-and-a-half months after the tragic death of one of his best friends, Furious co-star Paul Walker.)
TMZ reports that Norma claimed she was sick and called the cops to her house to go over her obligation to turn Shayla over around the time Tyrese swung by. After the police came and talked things over with both Tyrese and Norma, they left — and Tyrese was seen leaving the house without his daughter.
A rep for the 35-year-old actor confirmed the news to Us Weekly.
"Norma Gibson, Tyrese's ex-wife, denied him a court custodial order with their daughter Shayla on Feb. 11, 2014," the rep said in a statement to Us. "Tyrese arrived to pick up Shayla and was denied access by her mother. Mr. Gibson called the police to the scene, and Mrs. Gibson called TMZ … Sadly, this is not the first time this has happened. This has been an ongoing saga."
Norma reportedly claimed she was sick, and TMZ claims that Tyrese believes she withheld Shayla out of revenge.
The rep says that Tyrese will pursue a court-ordered evaluation this month.
Here's hoping he and his ex can reach an amicable agreement — if only for Shayla's sake.
