In Season 8, Episode 16, Vicki goes to dinner with her on-and-off boyfriend Brooks. Brooks plows his way through a plate of fried chicken, but Vicki is appalled when he says he needs some ketchup.
“You don’t put ketchup on chicken,” Vicki replies. “You put ketchup on on hamburgers. If I made fried chicken and you put ketchup on it, I’d find it rude. It’s inappropriate behavior.”
The Mississippi-born Brooks is quick to tell Vicki she doesn’t know anything about Southern eating. “You don’t know all the right things. You don’t know Southern etiquette. Everybody in the South puts ketchup on their fried chicken.”
Vicki can’t just let the conversation lie — in fact, she turns it into a personal attack against her. “Well, then I’m not going to make you fried chicken. That’s a slaving hard thing to do and then you ruin it by ketchup!”
Sheesh. Talk about a drama queen!
