When we heard that TLC would be performing at the 2013 American Music Awards on November 24 with a surprise guest, one name immediately came to mind — rapper Lil Mama. And we were right! The 24-year-old Brooklyn native joined Tionne "T-boz" Watkins and Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas for a nostalgia-inducing performance of "Waterfalls," complete with the iconic rap section.

Lil Mama recently played the girl group's late rapper, Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, in VH1's TLC biopic, CrazySexyCool, and her portrayal couldn't have been more on-point. Lil Mama's performance was applauded by both critics and fans alike, with Rolling Stone calling the similarities between the two artists borderline "eerie."

A few months prior to CrazySexyCool's television debut, Lil Mama joined T-boz and Chilli on stage at the OVO Festival in Toronto and again at VH1's Mixtape Festival in Hershey, Pennsylvania. It's clear that T-boz and Chilli are pretty fond of the "Lip Gloss" singer, and while no one can ever truly replace Left Eye, we have to give Lil Mama props for doing the late rapper some serious justice — even if we were really holding out for a 3D hologram of Left Eye. But we'll take what we can get!
