R&B Divas LA made its debut this past summer with tons drama from some of R&B’s biggest and baddest female voices of the ‘90s and early 2000s. The show got its official renewal for Season 2 this past fall, but it looks like not all of the ladies will be making a triumphant return.
According to TV One, the only returning cast members will be Chanté Moore, Lil’ Mo, Michel’le, and Claudette Ortiz, which means that Kelly Price (who had been dubbed the unofficial “mean girl” of the show) and Dawn Robinson of En Vogue will not be coming back.
But don’t cry just yet! According to D’Angela Proctor, Senior VP of Programming and Production at TV One, two new ladies — soul singers Chrisette Michele and Leela James — will be joining the crew.
“The debut season of R&B Divas LA set the tone as a series all about glamour and high-stakes drama. As we gear up to shoot season two, we anticipate that the addition of two lovely and respected solo artists, Chrisette and Leela, will build upon the impassioned, ever-evolving group dynamic that season one viewers embraced.”
We’re not sure of what to make of the newest additions, but their musical talents are undeniable. Hopefully these two gals will be able to adapt more easily into the already formed sisterhood. If not — well, we’ll be ready to watch the microphones fly!
