Brooklyn-born rapper Lil’ Kim is quite possibly the most notorious female MC that the music industry has encountered thanks to her provocative lyrics, brazen outfits, and bad girl image. The Notorious K.I.M. has been the subject of media scrutiny over the past few years due to her ever-evolving looks, but when Rolling Out magazine tried to address the issue in a recent interview, the Queen Bee became extremely defensive.

“No disrespect, no shade, but I’m not going to answer [that] question because I think that’s kinda corny,” she says adamantly. “I don’t know how to answer that,” she told Rolling Out.

It’s no secret that Lil’ Kim has gone through some “changes” from the time she first stepped out into the scene in the early ‘90s to now. Most recently, the lyricist and her camp have been involved in a feud with online gossip site MediaTakeOut over some photos of Kim that her reps claim were digitally altered to be less than flattering.

Though the rapper was more than willing to talk about the opening of her new record label, becoming the first lady of Ciroc, owned by her industry pal Sean “Diddy” Combs, and producing new music (as well as launching new talent), the “Crush on You” rapper wasn’t too open to discussing the media’s fascination with her look.

“That’s not a question I would answer,” she says regarding the media’s ongoing fixation with her image. “I’m blessed. That’s all I can say. And I am who I am.”

And that’s why she’ll forever be the Queen Bee (not be be confused with Queen Bey, who is obviously Beyonce).

Do you think Lil’ Kim should open up about the media’s fixation on her looks, or is she right to keep quiet? Sound off your thoughts in the comments below!
