Let’s Stay Together star Nadine Ellis may be known as conservative pediatrician Stacy Lawrence-Whitmore, but what most folks may not know is that this beautiful TV siren was a backup dancer for none other than the late Aaliyah. When Nadine stopped by THE WENDY WILLIANS SHOW on March 4, the dancer/actress recounted the last time she saw Aaliyah — the day she died.
Nadine was one of the dancers on Aaliyah’s final music video, “Rock the Boat,” and recalled her last moment with the “One in a Million” star:
"I'll never forget that last moment where they brought another boat, ‘cause we were in the middle of the ocean. They brought a boat to come meet her and to take her entourage away and we were all like, 'Hey can we get a picture, you know we just want some pictures.' She was like, 'You guys, we're gonna do the Grammys, we're gonna do the American Music Awards, we have all these awards to do, we'll get the shot then.' We were like OK. And she got on the boat and that was the last time we saw her. Gone way too soon. Way, way too soon. Very sweet girl," she confessed on Wendy.
Aaliyah, as well as eight other passengers, died on August 25, 2001 when her plane from the Bahamas location of the video shoot crashed moments after take-off. This past January 16 marked what would’ve have been Aaliyah’s 35th birthday. Unfortunately, Aaliyah and her crew would not be able to do the Grammys, American Music Awards, or even take their group photo, but the singer has certainly not been forgotten.
