It looks like Lifetime can’t seem to catch a break with their upcoming biopics. First, Aaliyah’s family protested the then Zendaya-led biopic of the late singer’s life; and now, Whitney Houston’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, is verbally bashing the biopic about her mother spearheaded by Angela Bassett.
In case you forgot, when news of the movie’s production hit, Bobbi took to Twitter to announce that she believed that she was the only person capable of portraying her mother on the small screen. However, Angela and the casting team thought otherwise and decided to select former America’s Next Top Model contestant and actress YaYa DaCosta.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Angela explained, “I did not think about casting [Bobbi Kristina]. And probably for a number of reasons, you know? One being that she’s not an actress. I know she’s acted here and there. I know she’s been on their family’s reality show, but she’s not an actress, and acting is a craft.”
We can totally get why Angela would cast someone who can bring a “technical aspect” to a movie that’s only the be shot over a 21-day period, but Bobbi Kristina couldn’t. In fact, the Bobbi K took to Twitter to slam Angela every way she could.
“Ha Ms Ang "bassketcase" has such a damn nerve my lord, at least the world doesn't mistake me for the wrong sex…she has some #XtraEquipment," the reality star tweeted on June 28, adding, “When I win my first Grammy or Oscar, *Shrugs* hmm whichever comes 1st, I'll be sure 2shout URname out b— ! hahUrTestResults = MALE. Lmao.”
While quite a few people agreed with Bobbi K, others thought it was not only rude but a bad networking move on Bobbi Kristina’s part. The 21-year-old has since deleted the first tweet where she addresses Angela by name, but left her second tweet live to assert her feelings.
