Former America’s Next Top Model runner-up Yaya DaCosta was recently revealed as the lead actress playing the late Whitney Houston in an upcoming Lifetime biopic tentatively titled, Whitney Houston. Now, there’s finally a first look of Yaya taking on Whitney’s iconic ‘80s look and we’re at a loss for words!

In the pic released by Entertainment Weekly, Yaya embodies the cover art look of Whitney’s 1987 self-titled album, Whitney, wearing nothing but a white tank top, tousled curly hair, red lips, smoky eyes, and a bright white smile.

Yaya gushed about recreating the famous album cover for the film, saying “I just looked at the picture and did the pose!” Looks like the new mom definitely put her Top Model skills to use because she nailed it.

Some fans are still on the fence about Yaya’s upcoming portrayal of the New Jersey-born artist’s early life — specifically Whitney’s only daughter with R&B singer Bobby Brown, Bobbi Kristina Brown. The 21-year-old took to Twitter to announce that she’s the only person who should’ve portrayed her mother, and later blasted acclaimed actress Angela Bassett, the movie’s director,  for going with Yaya.

Filming for Whitney Houston, which will focus on the singer’s early success and marriage to the King of R&B, has already begun with actor Arlen Escarpeta playing Bobby Brown. The movie is set to debut in 2015.
