50 Cent is going to need a lot more than two quarters to pay off his latest legal tangle. The “Candy Shop” rapper just got hit with a court order to pay millions upon millions of dollars to an audio company.
How much does 50 Cent owe exactly? More than $11.7 million in damages and close to $5 million in attorney’s fees for a cool $16 million. That’s 64 million quarters, if you were wondering.
RadarOnline.com reports 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis James Jackson III, got the ruling from a case involving Sleek Audio. The headphones manufacturer claimed Fitty stole the company’s design and used it to produce headphone brand Sync by 50 with a company he founded after leaving Sleek in 2011.
After more than a year of legal back and forths, a judge ruled in Sleek’s favor and ordered the 38-year-old rapper to pay up that $16 million amount ($11,693,247 in damages and $4,488,331 in attorney’s fees, if you really want your mind to be blown).
Thankfully for 50 Cent, he’s worth a reported $500 million, much in part because of his work with Vitaminwater. That said, we think he needs a slightly stiffer drink after this ruling.
