U.S. States With the Most Meth Busts: How Does Yours Stack Up? (INFOGRAPHIC)

On the heels of the final episode of Breaking Bad (did you love it as much as we did?), we were left with a lot of questions about the drug methamphetamine. Is it really that prevalent? Do people really run huge underground labs like the one in the show? Is it really blue? Inquiring moms want to know!

While we don’t pretend to have the answers to those questions, one thing we do know are which states have the highest and lowest number of meth busts. This infographic from our friends at the Huffington Post provides a map breaking down the number of meth busts by state. According to HuffPo, this was created based on Government Accountability Office analysis of Drug Enforcement Administration data from 2012.

Some of the data here isn’t too surprising: California and Texas, for example, are pretty large and highly populated states, so it makes sense that those numbers would be high. Others are just downright depressing. Hello, Missouri, things must be pretty horrible for your guys with a whopping 1,825, we’re guessing due to your economy.

Finally, we’re not sure if there’s really just not that much meth in Alaska, or if it’s just so remote it’s difficult to bust, but they are the clear winner for the fewest busts, with only 1 on the board.

While we doubt there’s a real Heisenberg out there cooking up the pure blue stuff, just a glance shows that the increase in meth use is pretty shocking, and we suppose it doesn’t hurt to be informed.
