Usher Releases a Statement Thanking the “Heroes” Who Saved His Son

It’s been a tough week for R&B singer Usher. On Monday, August 5, the star’s oldest son, Usher Raymond V, was rushed to the ICU of an Atlanta hospital after a “near death” accident in the singer’s pool.

Then, Usher’s ex-wife Tameka Foster requested an emergency custody hearing because of the events, hoping to strip Usher of primary custody, which he was awarded in August 2012. But when Usher released a statement on August 7, he only had thanks and happiness to relay.

"I am blessed and fortunate to say that my son Usher V is doing well and is recovering," he said. "I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of prayers, love and support for my family's well-being. I would like to thank my Aunt Rena as well as the doctors and nurses who are working with us around the clock.”

Ush gave a special shout out to the two workers who helped free his son’s arm from the pool’s drain, saving his life.

"I would especially like to thank the two men who saved my son's life, Eugene Stachurski and Ben Crews. They are true heroes and I am deeply grateful to them," he said.

Usher and Tameka’s emergency custody hearing will take place tomorrow, August 9, but we’re happy to know that Usher Raymond V is alive and well.
