When Men’s Health magazine went in search of a cover star for their 25th anniversary, there was only one guy on their minds.

“I train like an athlete every day, believe it not,” says former Voice coach Usher Raymond.

With perhaps the best abs in the entertainment industry, we don’t doubt his dedication to the gym. In fact, the R&B icon has been stepping up his exercise regimen as he prepares for his role as boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard in the upcoming biopic Hands of Stone.

Usher’s dedication to transforming himself into the character has pushed him physically further than he’s ever gone before. On top of daily boxing lessons, Usher’s been cycling 10 miles each way to his Atlanta gym. “Mentally, I’m the type of person who can ignore the pain. Put it somewhere else and allow my body to just go there. But I always suffer.”

His commitment to becoming Sugar Ray Leonard is more than just physical. “This character demands that I not only physically get ready, but also become him. The hair, the personality, the manner he conducts himself in. He’s an incredible man.”

With an all-star cast that includes Robert De Niro and Ryan Kwanten, this is undoubtedly Usher’s most important film to date. We’d be first in line to see anything he does, but with abs like those, we might just camp out the night before!
