Vampire Diaries’ Janina Gavankar Says Nina Dobrev Is “Doing Things She’s Never Done Before”

While some Vampire Diaries cast members have dated each other (and broken up), the vibe on the set is all love and mutual respect. While we’ve seen show boss Julie Plec rave about everyone and other co-stars compliment one another, it didn’t make it any less exciting to see new TVD guest star Janina Gavankar gushing about how highly she thinks of Nina Dobrev.

“Let me tell you, Nina Dobrev is working her butt off. She’s got such crazy hours, people don’t even know,” Janina Gavankar (Tessa) told Hollywood Life. “By the end of my run on the show, she was doing things she’s never done before on the show, and I’m really happy that I got to be a part of it and see her do them.”

This more than likely refers to Nina playing newly-human Katherine and Elena at the same time while both of her characters interact with either Stefan, Silas, or both. It could also be some sort of epic fight scene, a bloodbath, or something we can’t even predict since we’re so early in the season.

However, it wasn’t all serious. Janina also complimented Nina’s killer good looks and her general attitude.

“We had a lot of fun. … Oh, and not only is this girl doing these insane hours, but she still manages to look totally fly. … She’s fantastic,” she said. “She loves her show, and she’s proud of her show.”

Aww. We adore Nina, and it’s no surprise that Janina does, too! What do you think she’s doing on TVD that she’s “never done before”? Sound off with your thoughts and theories in the comments below!

The Vampire Diaries airs on Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
