Vampire Diaries Season 4: Where We Left Off at the End of Season 3
Nothing attracts vampires like opening up old wounds! So, before we return to Mystic Falls and launch into Season 4 of the Vampire Diaries, we’re going to take you back to the jaw dropping, blood boiling, heartbreaking moments that we all experienced at the end of Season 3.
Let’s address the vampire in the room first: Elena (Nina Dobrev). When we last saw her as a human, Stefan (Paul Wesley) was weeping at her side as she lay lifeless in the morgue. (Then again, “lifeless” is such a subjective word in these parts.) Just when we thought all hope was lost and we were sobbing right along with Stefan, Elena let out a gasp of undead life.
This, of course, should prove interesting for the two vamp-hunks in her world: Stefan and Damon (Ian Somerhalder). Especially when you consider that Elena officially gave Damon the ol’ heave-ho and chose Stefan. Not that we blame Elena, of course; what’s not to like about Stelena?
But we also can’t ignore that time in Season 3 when Damon kissed Elena and she kissed back, or that other time when Elena kissed Damon, or that other, other time when Damon confessed his love for Elena. We don’t think that love will vanish or get any easier now that both brothers have to teach Elena the rules of Bloodsucking 101.
Speaking of near-death experiences, our fave maniacally sexy original vamp, Klaus (Joseph Morgan), came close to losing his undead life when Alaric (Matt Davis) (RIP, sweet history teacher) went on the hunt for him. Luckily for Klaus, he had a witch on his side, kinda, in Bonnie (Kat Graham). She needed to keep Klaus alive to protect her friends and family (all the vamps we know and love are tied to his bloodline; if he dies, so do they). With the help of a little spell, Bonnie transferred Klaus’s soul into Tyler’s (Michael Trevino) hybrid body.
This should prove interesting, confusing, and odd for Caroline (Candice Accola), who kissed Tyler/Klaus at the end of Season 3. Everyone besides Bonnie is convinced Klaus is dead, including his sister, Rebekah (Claire Holt), who ran Elena and Matt (Zach Roerig) off the road. At Elena’s instance, Stefan saved Matt, which led to Elena’s (sort of) demise.
Feel emotionally drained after reading all that? Yeah, so do we, and we can’t wait for more on the season premiere tonight!
