“Me & @butchhogan and one of my greatest brothers - the one and only Conor Oberst - loving #nyc,” Ian Instagrammed, along with a pic of the three with their arms around one another. Aww. We love cross-medium bromances — and we’re big fans of Conor Oberst’s band Bright Eyes. (If you haven’t heard them, we suggest “First Day of My Life” or “At The Bottom of Everything” to start.) Conor is the founder, guitarist, and singer/songwriter of the Omaha-based band.
Ian seems to be a huge supporter of Conor’s work. In March, he sent out this tweet praising some of Conor’s poetic, compelling lyrics: “As sung by my brother Conor Oberst: ‘slipping steadily into madness, now that's the only place to be free.’ Thanks for that one Stones…” Yeah, he’s a total fan. In May, he shared the link to Bright Eyes’ “Ladder Song,” along with this affirmation of support: “Conor Oberst-you’re not only a brother but lyrical shaman. Watch this stop motion animation of this amazing tune-listen.”
Now that we know these two are besties, can we please get some Bright Eyes tuneage on TVD Season 5? We think it’s honest sentimentality and, at times, melancholic trappings would make a perfect accompaniment to many a TVD scene this season...
