We can’t blame a witch for not wanting to spill the news of her recent demise over the phone. In Entertainment Weekly’s exclusive Vampire Diaries clip from the Season 4 finale, Bonnie (Kat Graham) doesn’t exactly tell Caroline (Candice Accola) that her dreams of graduation may be hampered by a ghostly best friend.

An Expression spell proved too taxing for Bonnie in Season 4, Episode 22, “The Walking Dead.” Now she’s amongst the spirits haunting Mystic Falls in Season 4, Episode 23, “Graduation,” because the veil between the living and the Other Side has been lifted. In the clip, the witch admits she hit a “snag” with putting the veil back in place. Amidst the graduation prep, Caroline has no time for Bonnie’s spell troubles. “Are you telling me that we might graduate right smack in the middle of a ghost-filled Expression triangle?” asks Caroline. There was a heat wave during our graduation ceremony, Car, so we feel you.

When the newly dead witch suggests cancelling the ceremony, the blond vamp nearly pops a blood vessel. “Graduation is the most important event of our lives,” she moans. “It is our right of freaking passage.”

Bonnie decides to give her bestie was she wants and agrees the show must go on. Then she tells Caroline she loves her, and we get all misty-eyed.

Hopefully Grams is working on a plan to return her granddaughter to the land of the living!
