Life as a celebrity can’t always be easy. You leave your hotel to run a few errands and suddenly you’re swarmed by paparazzi snapping your photo, asking about your relationship, and basically giving you no privacy at all.

In a recent video shot of Paul Wesley in NYC, the Vampire Diaries actor is clearly a little irked by a photog following him down the street. Of course (in typical Wesley style), Paul makes polite conversation as he tries to go about his day — chatting about the city, the weather, and how he prefers to ride the subway like a non-celeb.

Yet we can’t help but feel a bit bad when the pap won’t leave him alone. Thankfully, the offender in question made up for it when he offered to pay for Paul’s ride on the 1 train.

“You’re gonna get on the subway, brother?” the paparazzo asks. “I got you, bro. We’ll swipe you in.”

Adorably, Paul smiles and says, “You got a MetroCard? I was gonna buy one. You saved me two dollars!”

Cut to Paul entering the subway, and the pap stayed true to his word. Good to know they’re good for something!
