Kat Graham (Bonnie Bennett) has a heart of gold and more jobs than we can keep up with. Not only does she star on The Vampire Diaries, the talented triple threat has toured tirelessly this year promoting her EP Against the Wall. Last night, Wetpaint Entertainment spoke with Kat at the Midori Happiest Day of the Year party at the London Hotel Rooftop in West Hollywood, CA about her next single — which is debuting soon! — and World Refugee Day, a cause that’s close to her heart.
Wetpaint Entertainment: What's next for your music?
Kat Graham: We're releasing the next single in the next two weeks. It's already picked. My manager who is here has not given me the flag to say it's OK to say it. But maybe he will by the end of the night, hopefully I'll give him a couple Midori drinks, and we'll tweet it out. We're going through directors for the music video and cover art, and it's going to happen in the next three weeks.
[Editor’s note: Kat hasn’t tweeted anything yet, but we’re really hoping the next single is “Heartkiller.”]
Why was it important for you to be involved with World Refugee Day?
Well the UNHCR [The UN Refugee Agency] is something that I have always been a fan of. Basically, I wanted to be a part of UNHCR for about a decade. I just wanted to be a part of something bigger than myself. Something that I felt the world needed to be more aware of, so many different situations. You see what's going on with Syria, to what happened with everything that happened in Liberia. I'm half-Liberian so I was overly aware of everything. I think it's important. Being somebody young, and you guys have a lot of young viewers and do a lot of press on these young celebs, I think it's really important that we have an awareness of what's going on with the refugee situation globally. That's really kind of it in a nutshell. It's been something I have always known I was supposed to a part of, and I'm going to raise as much as awareness as I can.
