If there’s one thing we hope The Originals takes from its Vampire Diaries predecessor, it’s lots of flashbacks. According to some recent tweets from the new CW show’s crew, things are looking good on that front.

Writer Declan De Barra took to Twitter to praise the cast recently, writing, “To all #TheOriginals actors and extras who had to perform in the murderous heat dressed in period costumes today, sorry. You were legends!”

Period costumes! That’s a good sign. (Too bad about the scorching weather, though.) And while we’re sure there are still horses in present-day New Orleans, this could be another clue: “What separates TVD from The Originals? Why, horses of course!” executive producer Julie Plec tweeted, along with a pic of said horses. Um, is Klaus going to draw those black beauties? Because we miss his artistic skills.

Whether they’re in the past or present, it seems the Originals are being their usual, murderous selves. “We're going to keep a body count for #TheOriginals to see which character has the most kills. I'll let you guess who's winning so far ;),” tweeted Joseph Morgan. What do you think? Is the smart money on Klaus?

There will still be some modern-day fun for the vampires, of course. A casting call for this weekend promises a “funky” rave. Maybe that’s what the horses are for?
