When Nina Dobrev (Elena Gilbert) and former Dancing With the Stars pro Julianne Hough started hanging out after their recent breakups, everyone assumed they were forming their own lonely hearts club. But in their upcoming September issue, The Vampire Diaries star tells Cosmopolitan magazine it’s not like that at all.

"That's not what our friendship is about,” Nina says when asked whether they’re helping each other get over heartache. The brunette actress split from her co-star Ian Somerhalder (Damon Salvatore) in May, while Julianne and Ryan Seacrest broke up in March. “Unfortunately, that's how it's perceived,” she continued, “but there's more to us. People aren't defined by their relationships. The whole point is being true to yourself and not losing yourself in relationships, whether romances or friendships."

Instead, Nina and Julianne have a deeper connection. She explains, "It's been cool to find an active buddy — there are lots of girlie girls around. We don't talk about makeup; we talk about life.”

Besides, Nina is way too busy to sit around moping. Her next project? "I want to open my own yoga studio,” says the ambitious actress. “Planning construction and looking at properties is fun. I'm using a different part of my brain.”

Dobrev’s Dharma Yoga Studio?* When can we sign up for classes?!

*We have no idea if that’s what it will be called.
