Is Damon and Elena’s relationship doomed before it even begins? From what we’ve gathered, Delena fans, you don’t have anything to worry about — yet.

The Vampire Diaries recently added another new face to its robust Season 5 roster, and Delena fans collectively sighed when they realized this mysterious college hottie would be getting close to Elena at Whitmore. However, it looks like Aaron (Shaun Sipos) will be friendzoned for the time being — after all, if you had a guy like Damon, would you really cheat on him? No!

Elena and Damon will be trying to make their long distance relationship (LDR) work in Season 5, but between the distance and Elena’s new broody BFF, we’re a little concerned for the pair. But hopefully Julie Plec and co. avoid the drama for a bit and let Damon and Elena be happy for once. Nonetheless, here are three things want for Delena in Season 5.

Are we having fun yet? Elena spent most of Season 4 devoid of human emotion — and now that we think about it, she’s spent most of the series worrying — while Damon has spent the past four seasons being broody and numbing his emotions with whiskey. Needless to say, we’d like to see Damon and Elena finally have fun together. And if we’re really lucky, we may even get a few date nights — dinner and a movie, camping trips at the Gilbert cabin, etc. Sure, long distance can suck (pun definitely intended), but Delena can find a way to keep the romance exciting. (Um, sexy Skype sessions, anyone?)

No more drama. OK, so maybe this is an unrealistic request, but after four seasons of Stefan/Elena/Damon drama, all Delena fans want is a drama-free season. We know that’s not going to happen anytime soon, but is it really too much to ask for a little happiness before things start getting dark and twisty? We know the distance is going to strain Damon and Elena’s relationship, but the writers plan to keep the couple together and happy for the time being. Aaron is definitely going to be a threat to Damon — and we’re pretty sure the irrational vamp is going to be more than a little green with envy over his girlfriend’s new campus friend — but we’re hoping Julie Plec gives Delena at least five episodes of blissful happiness.

O Brother Where Art Thou? As much as we love Delena together, we can’t forget about poor Stefan, who’s currently locked inside a box at the bottom of a quarry. Yes, it will be awkward for Damon and Elena to become chummy with Stefan — especially after they simultaneously ripped out his heart and stomped on it — but something tells us Stefan is really going to need his friends in Season 5. Not only is his psycho immortal doppelganger parading around Mystic Falls as him, but he’s having painful hallucinations from the torture of drowning, dying, and coming back to life… over and over again. We’d really like to see Damon and Elena try to help Stefan sort out the demons in his head. The dreaded love triangle may be over, but we still want these three to be friends.
