With the giant cast that The Vampire Diaries has, it’s hard to make an impression. But if there has been one character to do so, it’s definitely Candice Accola’s on-screen counterpart, Caroline Forbes.

Since Season 1, viewers have been able to sit back and enjoy her snarky and sassy remarks, and her transition to a vampire was perhaps one of the best storylines in TV history. But a lot has changed since then, and with the show headed toward its 100th episode during Season 5 (which premieres on October 3), Candice and Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) are headed to college.

Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with Candice at Entertainment Weekly’s pre-Emmy party and she told us (and group of other reporters) that this is going to be one epic season.

When it came to the upcoming season of TVD, Candice was tight-lipped, saying, “Caroline and Elena are going to college. We’re going to get a really great kind of tongue-in-cheek to the dialogue as we enter into Season 5. There are really heavy, crazy storylines.”

And there’s something all TVD fans should look forward to this season. “We’re about to hit our 100th episode in a couple of weeks, so it’s been a really special season so far and the sentiment has been very heightened on the set,” Candice revealed.

Even though the girls are headed for Whitmore College, the trouble isn’t going to just stay in Mystic Falls. “The new mystery that follows them to college, the writers are going to keep you on your toes for a couple episodes,” Candice teased. “It’s really great. We’re only eight episodes in and we still haven’t figured out all the mysteries.”
