Caroline (Candice Accola) talked to CW69 Atlanta about Season 5 of The Vampire Diaries, teasing a “lighter” tone, “new fellas,” more magic, and a possible The Originals crossover. Basically, everything we could ever want from a new season of TVD!

A lighter tone

Candice said that TVD is “more fun” this year, and that we’ll get to see our favorite characters having a good time again. We have to admit, Season 4 was a little doom-and-gloomy. But will it be all fun and games? We do like the darker tinge TVD brings to The CW.

“It’s still heavy, it’s still a very weighted series, and there’s a lot of drama, but I think tonally it’s just a little bit lighter,” said Candice, calming our drama-hungry hearts. After all, what’s TVD without a snapped neck or two?

New fellas

Might some of that fun involve a hot new college romance for Caroline and/or Elena? Candice said: “There will be some new fellas, but I can’t say if there is going to be any romantic interest just yet.” Sounds promising...might Candice be referring to Jesse (Kendrick Sampson), the handsome TVD newcomer who will reportedly playing very close attention to Caroline? We suspect there might be something brewing between these two characters.

The Originals crossover

But what about the possibility of appearing on a certain TVD spin-off series alongside love interest Klaus? Candice definitely seems open to the idea, saying of a possible crossover, “You never know. I would love to make an appearance on The Originals. I’m really excited hearing all of the snippets and tidbits that I’ve been hearing being here in Atlanta and knowing the other actors over there. So, I’m really excited to be a viewer of the show, and I love when Caroline and Klaus have scenes together as well, so I think it would be a really fun crossover, but who knows?”

More magic

Even though Caroline and Elena will be spending some time outside of Mystic Falls at nearby Whitmore College, doesn’t mean the show will be letting up on its magical undertones - especially with Ghost Bonnie (Kat Graham) haunting all of her loved ones. Candice said that, through Bonnie’s character, “Now, you’re just going to be introduced to a new world and a new perspective of the magic that has been a part of the series since the beginning.” Could this be a reference to the glimpses of the “other side” Kat has been teasing? Fantastic!
