When the curtain fell on Season 4 of The Vampire Diaries, Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham) had made the ultimate sacrifice for Jeremy Gilbert (Steven R. McQueen), so would have been easy to count her out of Season 5. But Kat has spoken and it sounds like you can’t keep a good witch down.

In an interview with CW69, Atlanta’s CW affiliate, Kat teased a huge opener for Season 5. “Every season always starts off bigger and better and we always start off each season with a bang,” Kat teased. “So this one is no different — it’s huge.”

But what can we expect for Bonnie this season? “My character died at the end of the last season, so I think I have been more so been looking forward to how they were going to explore that and still have me working this much,” Kat said. “I’ve been more curious as to how … it’s going to affect characters’ different relationships.”

Kat also teased a huge difference between witches and other supernatural beings on the “Other Side.” Short story: witches have advantages! “Witches can go from dimension to dimension on the Other Side, whereas people who are just supernatural, they kinda have to stay in their one dimension, so witches do have the power.” Oh, that’s going to be interesting!

And while Kat said that Bonnie might be visiting a few people this season, most of her interactions are with Jeremy. When (and if) Bonnie comes back to life, Kat says she would love to see her get involved in some of the witch drama down in New Orleans on The Originals. “It’s all a huge, awesome Julie Plec umbrella,” Kat said. “I wanna see what’s going on over there!”
