The time has finally come: it’s time for Season 5 of The Vampire Diaries! It’s been a long summer waiting for our favorite supernatural drama to make its epic return to the small screen, but beginning Thursday, October 3, the wait is officially over.

Join us as we send off Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) and Caroline Forbes (Candice Accola) off to Whitmore College, see Mystic Falls deal with Stefan Salvatore’s disappearance and Silas’s  (both played by Paul Wesley) rise to power. It sounds like Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) is going to have his hands full this season, with his brother drama and epic romance with Elena.

The Vampire Diaries airs on Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW. Check back every week to see if you can expect a new episode or if you’re in for a re-run. Hit the comments and let us know what you think of this season!

March 20, 2014: If you are still getting over the death of Katherine Pierce, we’re about to rip that Band-aid right off. TVD returns tonight with an all-new episode picking up right where we left off. To summarize: Damon is still infected with the ripper virus, Elena is still infected with the ripper virus, and everyone else is basically freaking out.

We already know from one sneak peek that Matt and Jeremy have Damon chained up — and from another sneak peek we can assume that Liv has locked Elena in her dorm room. But will that keep these two lovers apart? Not at all. There is official confirmation that Delena is going to have “sexy time” this week. Hot ripper vamp sex? Consider us tuned in.

March 13, 2014: Just to rub it in even more that Katherine Pierce is officially dead, The Vampire Diaries has decided to take a pass at airing an all-new episode this week. That’s right, no new episode tonight, folks. Last week we saw the gang finally pull one over on Katherine. When they kidnapped a dying Nadia (RIP, girl), they lured the Petrova gal into the mix. It was Stefan that dealt the final blow to Katherine, burying the Traveler dagger in her chest.

But just before the 500-year-old finally bit the dust and got sucked into Hell, she revealed that she had left a gift for Elena: a dose of the Ripper venom. After that, there was a failed attempt at crossing over to the Other Side a la Bonnie, Katherine was sucked into a big black hole. While Katherine and Nadia were gone by the end of the episode, Damon managed to gouge out the eyes of Dr. Wes as well during the hour. We can’t wait to see how Elena adjusts to being back in her own body and having a deep thirst for other vamps.

March 6, 2014: By now it’s common knowledge that the Kat is out of the bag. That’s right, at the end of Season 5, Episode 14 (“No Exit”) last week, Stefan and Caroline pieced together the clues leading them to the obvious conclusion that Katherine was pretending to be Elena all along! Well, it was a good run, Katherine! In tonight’s episode, Season 5, Episode 15 (“Gone Girl”) the Mystic Falls gang is going to put together and put a “desperate new plan” into motion in attempts to save Elena from wherever her soul has been temporarily placed.

Meanwhile, a dying Nadia is going to get nostalgic and remember her centuries-long search for her mom. Kinda sounds like something bad is going to happen to either Nadia or Katherine, doesn’t it? On a less depressing front, Bonnie and Jeremy are going to turn to Liv once more and Tyler will be lured into a dangerous trap by Damon. But what really has us worried is that Bonnie is going to learn a “terrifying secret that will threaten the lives of all her friends.” That sounds ominous, right? Color us worried.

February 27, 2014: Now that the 2014 Sochi Olympics have come and gone, it’s time to see what’s going on in Mystic Falls. Now that Damon is craving vampire blood, his behavior is only going to get worse — and with Enzo trying to keep him under control, there’s the chance he might kill his Augustine bestie. Though Stefan and Damon’s last convo was a bit depressing and seemingly final, Stefan is going to embark on a journey to find his brother yet again.

And as for Katherine pretending to be Elena? That plan might be falling apart soon, as Matt, Caroline, and Tyler are going to band together in a desperate plan to protect Elena. With Katherine-as-Elena out on the road with Stefan, things are going to get steamy in a hot shower, and Katherine’s going to have to be on top of her game to not get found out, though a revelation from Caroline might just tip Stefan off about the whole doppelganger Freaky Friday action happening right in front of his eyes.

February 6-20, 2014: Bad news, TVD fans! If you were hoping to catch a new episode of your favorite CW show, keep on hoping. Because of the 2014 Sochi Olympics, we’re going to be sans The Vampire Diaries for a few weeks. Just when things were getting good with Katherine trying to pass herself off as Elena and Damon getting a major dose of that special serum, we have a short hiatus to deal with. When we return, it looks like Damon is going to be thirsty for some vampire blood and Katherine’s plans might be going bad. Catch the next all-new episode on February 27!

January 30, 2014: After last week’s shocking 100th episode and the twist we all saw coming — Katherine becoming a passenger in Elena’s body, we’re gearing up for the aftermath in tonight’s episode. With everyone suspecting that Katherine is dead and gone, we suspect they’re going to be shocked when they find out. Nadia is going to be coming by the Salvatore mansion in hopes of getting her mom’s body back so the other Travelers can get rid of Elena forever — scary!

Not only do we have that drama to deal with, but there’s a lot of hooking up going on, most notably that Klaroline hookup in the woods. We know that Caroline is going to come clean about something to Elena, Tyler, and Stefan, but we don’t know if it’s about the Klaroline hookup. It could also totally be about Bonnie and Jeremy hooking up. Either way, tonight’s episode is going to be totally cray.

January 23, 2014: Tonight’s the night we’ve all been waiting for! Not only is this the midseason premiere for Season 5, but it also marks the 100th episode! Can you believe it? There’s been a ton of speculation about whether or not Katherine will actually bite the dust tonight, and we’re definitely holding out for a way to save our favorite sassy vamp. The characters are pretty much split as to how they feel about the demise of Katherine, well, actually Stefan is the only one feeling sorry for her. Everyone else seems pretty chill.

When we forget about Katherine’s problems, there’s also a Delena breakup that we’re going to have to come to grips with, and we suspect that is going to be a topic of conversation for everyone, especially since Damon broke up with Elena, and not the other way around. In other relationship news, we’re expecting a huge Klaroline moment. And since we know Caroline is going to do something scandalous, we’re hoping she directs those feelings right at the hybrid hunk. Get ready for a wild ride, because we’re going to see familiar faces and freak out over the special episode.

December 12, 2013: Get ready for a long hiatus, TVD fans! After tonight’s midseason finale, we’re in for a long wait — until January 23, to be exact — before we’ll get to see another episode of our favorite show. But don’t you worry, at least it’s the 100th episode! In tonight’s episode, Damon realizes Elena is in danger (aka trapped in Dr. Wes’ creepy lab), and enlists the help of Stefan in order to save her. The bros are going to try to use Aaron as leverage to get Elena back from Dr. Wes, which is either genius or a terrible idea.

Meanwhile, Damon is going to be coming face-to-face with Enzo, who isn’t so happy that his “friend” left him to die back in the ‘50s. Elena is going to get the low-down from Dr. Wes about the history of Whitmore College. With Katherine in her last days, the vamp-turned-human is going to turn to Matt for help in saving her own life, but it is actually Nadia, the fellow traveler, to help save her life. We’re holding out for a way to save our favorite sassy vamp, but we’re definitely worried.

December 5, 2013: Are you guys ready to meet present-day Enzo? In tonight’s episode, Stefan is going to continue to offer Katherine his support in her dying days while trying to mask his own pain, aka PTSD. Luckily Caroline is on-deck to figure out a way Katherine can help Stefan get over his stressful recovery — and we think things are going to be heating up for Steferine. Caroline’s “unusual form of therapy” is going to be shocking, which is what we expect from our vamp Barbie.

Meanwhile, Damon is going to come face-to-face with Enzo, as Dr. Wes is not afraid to pull all the stops to see that his plans are completed. Elena is going to turn to Aaron for help with Damon, but we don’t see this ending up well. When Damon comes clean about his tragic past, Elena’s going to fill him in on some info about her family as well — and we’re dying to know what she has to say. Basically, we’re worried about all our friends in tonight’s episode!

November 28, 2013: Sorry folks, no new episode of The Vampire Diaries tonight. You’re going to have to wait yet another week to see the Mystic Falls gang back in action. We know that’s going to be hard, especially with all of the Augustine drama going on over at Whitmore College — but don’t worry, the students are off on Thanksgiving break and are safe. But that doesn’t mean everything is going peachy for our vampiric friends. Let’s take a look back at what happened last week: Elena and Caroline tried to help Jesse adapt to being a vampire (but that was short-lived when Elena killed him), Damon remembered being in the Augustine experiments in the 50s (hello, Wolverine syndrome), and Katherine killed Nadia’s Traveler boyfriend and then got super close to Stefan (praise!).

Next week, you can expect to see a lot of surprising things, including a visitor: Enzo, a troubled figure from Damon’s past (aka his Augustine days). We suspect that Enzo is also an Augustine vampire, which means he’s hoping to feed off of other vamps. Either way, things are going to get pretty sticky. Also, we see Elena in the hands of Dr. Wes Maxfield, which makes us wonder if she’s going to get experimented on as well and become yet another experiment for the crazy professor. We’re on the edge of our seats! Don’t overdose on turkey Thursday, there’s more TVD to enjoy!

November 21, 2013: Now that Bonnie is finally back to life, it looks like Elena and Caroline are wasting no time to welcome their semi-dead bestie to college. The co-eds are going to be throwing a huge bash to welcome their new roomie (hopefully she doesn’t get killed right off the bat like Megan, RIP!). With Jesse being a new vamp, we expect there to be some problems with his adjustment, but we expect newly-single Caroline is going to make him her new project. With the doppelganger drama over, we expect the Mystic Falls crew to enjoy their leisure time, though we know this whole Augustine Society poses some sort of massive threat, and with Dr. Wes Maxfield at the head, things are going to get crazy.

We hope Katherine, who is finally free from the threat of Silas, can become Mother of the Year and spend some time with Nadia — and hopefully they can help Matt out with his whole Traveler-capsule problem. With Katherine aging rapidly, we hope the gang rallies and finds some way to save the sassy doppelganger. We’ve already lost Amara, so hopefully even Damon can put his hatred aside and support his former love.

November 14, 2013: Now that Stefan finally remembers that Elena dumped him for his brother (ouch!), it looks like the tortured vamp is going to be confused and want to stay far away from everyone, but with the combined crazy threat of Silas, Tessa, and Amara, things aren’t going to be slowing down anytime soon. The race to bring Bonnie back to life is going to be heating up with everyone trying to figure out what to do with the newly-alive Amara, who is wanted by both Tessa and Silas. We know that we’re in store for an epic scene that brings together Elena, Katherine, and Amara, and we can only suspect that this is in efforts to bring Bonnie back to life.

We’re totally caught up in all of the craziness that this episode is sure to bring, and we hope everything turns out for the best, though we do know that this is The Vampire Diaries and nobody is ever happy and nobody is ever safe. We hope The Mystic Falls crew can fight the forces of evil that are raging about the town and figure out how to save one very special witch.

November 7, 2013: Wow, that was an intense Halloween episode, wasn’t it? Once again another Mystic Falls shindig has caused a ruckus in town and with the ol’ Paul Wesley switcheroo, we are still wrapping our heads around what happened last week. All that we do know for sure is that Katherine Pierce — yes, the psycho vampire lady — is a mom. Nadia (Olga Fonda) finally peeled back a layer of her Traveler mystery and told the now-human (yet apparently immortal) Petrova doppelganger that she was her long-lost daughter. Oh yeah, and Silas wants to die and they’re trying to bring Bonnie back.

This week, we’re going to see Tessa/Qetsiyah putting the pressure on the Mystic Falls gang to hurry up and kill Silas before he finds the anchor to the Other Side. But this causes a problem for Damon, who is trying to use Silas to bring back everyone’s favorite — and far less scorned — witch, Bonnie. Adding to her crazy lady persona, Qetsiyah/Tessa is going to threaten Elena’s life if Damon doesn’t hurry up and kill the ancient warlock. We have a feeling this episode is going to be a wild ride.

October 31, 2013: Happy Halloween, Vampire Diaries fans! Tonight you’re in for quite the treat when the hit CW show returns tonight with a new episode. Last week we got to see an amnesia-stricken Stefan attempt to learn all about the past 200 years of his life. This sparked some really intense Stelena feelings for fans, and is going to enrage Delena fans across the world. Remembrance Day was upon Mystic Falls and we finally laid Bonnie to rest — but is it for good? Meanwhile, Caroline was hooking up with Jesse, but all that was spoiled when Tyler came back to town.

This week, you’ll need to put on your dancing shoes and get ready for yet another infamous TVD shindig. Tonight we’ll be celebrating the Whitmore Historical Ball and Elena and Damon will be dressing up as Anne Boleyn and Henry VIII. In other, slightly creepier, news, Elena will share a dance with Dr. Wes Maxfield (you know, the guy that just turned Jesse into a vampire) and he’s going to be sharing some “disturbing” news. Caroline isn’t going to have a good night (we’re guessing that she’ll break up with Tyler), Nadia’s going to confide in Katherine, and Damon’s going to make a deadly deal with Silas.

October 24, 2013: In last week’s episode, we didn’t expect Tessa (Janina Gavankar) to make that big of an entrance, but with her reveal that she is the ancient — and super bitter — witch Qetsiyah, we’ve got some major doppelganger drama to unravel going forth. But arguably the biggest shocker came in the final moments of the episode, with Stefan revealing that he has lost his memory — meaning all those precious Stelena moments are gone, for now at least. With Silas still on a rampage, even more so now that his ex-girlfriend is wreaking havoc in Mystic Falls.

With Remembrance Day upon us, Damon and Elena are trying to help Stefan get through his amnesia, it looks like Elena’s going to be getting close to her former flame once more — and there’s even a possible kiss! In other news, Caroline is going to give Jesse a chance, and the two are seen canoodling in the forest. We’re anxious to hear what startling news Jeremy will tell Damon, though we think it’s about Ghost Bonnie. Dr. Maxfield is also going to put a plan into motion — spooky, right?

October 17, 2013: Last week’s episode gave us plenty of drama — and tonight promises to be a game changer. With Elena attacking Damon while being controlled by the evil Silas and his warlock mind control. We also got to see the Other Side, with Matt getting killed by Silas (dang, he’s a really bad guy). He reunited with dead Bonnie and they had an emotional moment together before his memory was wiped and he sprung back to live via the Gilbert ring. When Damon and Elena finally decided to look for Stefan, we discovered that The Ripper was free and very hungry.

On tonight’s episode, “Originals Sin,” we’ll finally meet Tessa (Janina Gavankar), a girl from Stefan’s past who is going to turn Mystic Falls upside down with some shocking news about the mild-mannered Salvatore brother — and she’s going to have some shocking news about Damon’s future too. Uh-oh! And with Silas still hell-bent on finding Katherine, Matt’s going to be in danger, and we assume he’s going to be mind controlled into helping the dastardly warlock. Tonight’s episode is going to be so amazing!

October 10, 2013: Now that we’ve gotten the premiere under our belts, we’re ready to deal with the ramifications of the two deaths from the Season 5 opener. With Megan and Bonnie’s dad dead, Elena and Caroline are going to go sniffing for answers around Whitmore College and meet up with the mysterious Dr. Wes Maxfield, a studly microbiology professor with tons of secrets. We’re also wondering when we’ll find out the connection between Megan and Nina’s dad?

Back in Mystic Falls Silas has turned the whole town into a collection of slaves who are looking for one person: Katherine. With Silas still causing problems for the gang, we’re expecting Damon and crew to get into some dangerous situations. And with Damon fully aware that Silas is running about and his brother Stefan is suffering, it’s only a matter of time before Elena starts to realize that something is up. Also, we really hope Tyler calls to apologize to Caroline. He’s got some explaining to do!October 3, 2013: Woohoo, we can officially say that yes, The Vampire Diaries is new tonight. Season 5 begins tonight with the premiere, titled “I Know What You Did Last Summer.” In tonight’s episode, we will find out what our favorite Mystic Falls residents have been up to all summer — and we’ll be honest: for some it has been a very hot summer. Get ready to see a threesome with Matt Donovan (Zach Roerig), Rebekah Mikaelson (Claire Holt), and mysterious newcomer Nadia (Olga Fonda), as well as some steamy Delena kisses.

After a very eventful Season 4, don’t expect things to slow down at all. Things are going to be getting crazy at Whitmore College for Elena and Caroline while Ian, Katherine, and Jeremy Gilbert (Steven R. McQueen) deal with things back in Mystic Falls. This premiere is going to be absolutely insane!
