The Vampire Diaries kicked off Season 5 with lots of blood, sex, and lies — and Bonnie happens to be caught in the biggest lie of them all. Bonnie has been using Jeremy to communicate with her besties Elena and Caroline, who are at Whitmore College.  But with Elena and Caroline in desperate need of some supernatural assistance, how long can Bonnie keep her death a secret?

Candice Accola (Caroline) recently chatted with The Hollywood Reporter, and she revealed that “when Elena and Caroline learn what's happened to Bonnie, they will be quite heartbroken.”

Of course Elena and Caroline will be devastated by the news — and probably a little upset that she kept it from them for so long — but it sounds like Bonnie’s death will play into a bigger storyline this season.

“Eventually the characters are going to come into the light about what is really going on and the bigger picture, and it’s going to be really hard truth to face,” Candice recently dished to TVLine. “For the viewers, they’re going to be opened up into a whole different world and it’s going to be an opportunity for them to learn more about the mythology of Mystic Falls.”

The “mythology of Mystic Falls?” So, there’s even more to this supernatural town that we don’t know about? We’ve previously explored the origins of the vampires in Mystic Falls — we know the Original family lived in what is now called Mystic Falls — but does Silas have ties to the town as well? Seeing how Silas is over 2,000 years old, this flashback could be very interesting.

What do you think, TVD fans? Are you excited to explore Mystic Falls’ mythology? Do you want Bonnie to fess up already? Sound off in the comments!
