With Tessa (Janina Gavankar) joining up with the Mystic Falls crew in Episode 2 (“Originals Sin,” airing tomorrow, October 10) as a former flame from Stefan’s (Paul Wesley) past, it only seems fitting that Damon (Ian Somerhalder) has some skeletons come out of his closet this season. But good news, Delena fans: you can all breathe a sigh of relief, because it isn’t a love interest or former hookup.

According to Deadline, Michael Malarkey, who played Prince Maxon in the TV movie The Selection, will be playing a major recurring role throughout Season 5, beginning in the December 5 episode.

On The Vampire Diaries, Michael will play Enzo, a charming-yet-tortured figure from Damon’s past who arrives in Mystic Falls desperately looking to reconnect with his old buddy.

The jury is out on whether or not Enzo will be a vampire or not, seeing as how we don’t know how far into Damon’s past he originated. But considering the fact that Damon doesn’t really have too many friends, we can probably expect their reunion to be a bit rocky.
