Tonight's episode of The Vampire Diaries (Season 5, Episode 4: "For Whom the Bell Tolls") was a roller coaster of emotions — from Stefan and Elena retracing their steps through Stelena history to Tyler's heartfelt return at Bonnie's funeral, this episode had a little bit of everything.

After the masterpiece that was Season 5, Episode 3 we weren't sure if TVD could out-do its self, but "For Whom the Bell Tolls" toned down the action and heightened what we truly love about the show — the relationships. Damon and Stefan shared a laugh (and a drink!), Elena and Stefan reconnected, Caroline and Jesse got closer, Caroline helped Stefan through his bloodlust, Tyler and Caroline reunited, and everyone mourned Bonnie's death together. We haven't balled so hard since Alaric's crypt-side funeral.

However, if there was one blip in this otherwise perfect episode it was Matt's storyline, which frankly, isn't as compelling as we'd like it to be. Sure, having a psycho Czech Traveler possessing your brain isn't ideal, but it's just moving a bit too slow for our tastes. With Bonnie six feet under, he really needs to call in some backup! By now, the Scooby Gang is well-versed in all things supernatural.

But what did you think of the episode, TVD fans? Was it your favorite episode of the season, or were you disappointed? Sound off in the comments!
