On The Vampire Diaries, we never know what to expect. One moment we’re screaming at our TVs when someone dies or breaks up, and the next we’re sobbing happy tears when friends reunite or Stefan Salvatore is unleashed from his quarry box of doom.

It turns out we’re not alone on this emotional rollercoaster — creator Julie Plec feels the same way, especially when it comes to tonight’s episode (Season 5, Episode 4: “For Whom the Bell Tolls").

Earlier this afternoon (October 24), she tweeted about her excitement and tears, writing, “Very excited about tonight's Vampire Diaries. I may have cried a little. OK, a lot. But there were happy tears too, I swear!”

Originals writer Carina Mackenzie echoed her sentiments, writing, “No spoilers, but: Tonight's #TVD is one of my favorites of ALL TIME. Not shipper-related. Just absolute awesomeness-related.”

Sounds like a great episode to us from those tweets alone, but what are they talking about specifically? Our bets are on Elena’s “emotional journey” and interactions with amnesiac Stefan and Damon or Jeremy’s “startling confession.” The synopsis reveals those two big plot points, plus Matt figuring out the reason behind his mysterious blackouts, Caroline getting to know newcomer Jesse, and Dr. Maxfield putting a plan in motion that “will change everything.” Eek!

Honestly, it could be any of the above, or all of them for that matter. Why do you think Julie was crying? Sound off below, and catch TVD at 8 p.m. ET on The CW tonight, Thursday, October 24.
