Which former The Vampire Diaries star threw a little Christmas into his Halloween celebration by dressing up as Jesus for the holiday? We’ll give you a hint: he once played the best damn history teacher Mystic Falls ever saw, and he goes by Ernesto Riley on Twitter!

If you guessed Matt Davis, aka TVD’s Alaric Saltzman (R.I.P., Ric), then you would be right. Matt chose to dress up as the Son of God for this year’s Halloween festivities. Need a visual aid? Check out his near-unrecognizable self in the pic he tweeted November 2. In the snapshot, Matt is donning a white robe, sash, and an exuberant head of hair (both on top of his head and on his face). His caption for the pic: “Remember kids: Jesus loves you.”

Matt seems to have a bit of an eccentric sense of humor, as evidenced both by his bold costume choice and his Twitter alter ego: Ernesto Riley. When asked at last year’s Crimson Sky fan convention, he (kind of) explained his handle, saying “I needed an alter ego to disseminate a message from the future … It was a combination of factors: One was, I just needed a new name, and Ernesto Riley made sense. I’m a bit of an absurdist and I thought, Ernesto Riley was a fairly absurd name.” You should watch the video for Michael Trevino’s (Tyler Lockwood) reactions to Matt’s comment alone.

What do you think of Matt’s costume? Do you think he makes a good Jesus? Sound off in the comments below!
