Can’t wait until Thursday to see the next installment in The Vampire Diaries saga? Check out this sneak peek from Season 5, Episode 6: “Handle With Care,” in which Elena, Damon, Silas, and Jeremy set out to enact their plan to bring Bonnie back from the dead. Just another day in the lives of our favorites TVDers!
The scene, set in the Salvatore mansion, shows the somewhat unconventional gang gearing up to go somewhere to enact the ritual that will kill Silas and, in theory, bring Bonnie back from the dead. Silas seems to be taking the lead, telling telling the gang, “Alright, we gotta get going. You,” he says, pointing at Jeremy, “grab a crowbar or four from the garage.”
Jeremy, as he often does, asks the question we viewers at home are wondering (and everyone on the show should be asking): “What for?” Silas deflects with a “Does it matter?” only making us more suspicious. Are they going to dig someone up? Is Silas just impatient, or is he trying to hide something?
Silas then points to Elena, telling her, “You’re not going. Men only.” Misogynistic and drowner of Stefan? We really want to like you, Silas, and then you go and do something unsavory. Elena and Damon don’t think Silas is serious, but he assure them he is “100 percent” so.
“She’s a freaky carbon copy of my one true love, Amara,” Silas explains. “You can understand why I don’t want to stare at her imposter face all day.” Damon argues that this makes zero sense (though, not to side with the Big Bad, we kind of understand). Silas tells him: “It would make complete sense if you were ever in love with anybody who looked exactly like her.”
This prompts the best part of the scene: Damon making the best grimace face ever, presumably remembering his past love for another Petrova doppelganger (aka the one he was willing to kill last week). But Elena isn’t moved by Silas’ protests. “This is ridiculous,” she tells him. “We’re bringing my best friend back from the dead. I’m going.”
