Between The Vampire Diaries and Orphan Black, we have developed a severe case of doppelganger paranoia —  not in our own lives (because having a doppelganger would be awesome), but on our favorite shows. We see potential doppelgangers around every narrative corner. Are our anxieties unfounded? Candice Accola (Caroline Forbes) talked to TV Fanatic about a possible doppelganger for her character!

You can sleep easy, readers. According to Candice, there are no clones, doppelgangers, or twins in Caroline’s future: “I don’t think there’s going to be another version of Caroline,” she said. “I mean, I have no idea because everything, anything could happen on this show. Whenever people die, we might see them again, you know what I mean? They don’t always die.”

Fair point, Candice, but we think you’re right to assume that there is no doppelganger in Caroline’s future. It’s hard to imagine how TVD could explain another version of Caroline — even within the zany internal logic of this show. Especially given that TVD seems to be trimming its doppelganger population. Silas and Tessa both died, and Katherine is well on her way. Though Nina Dobrev teased the possibility of another Petrova doppelganger, that would still be a conservative doppelganger population by TVD’s standards. Perhaps, this show is finally leaving the doppelganger mythology behind. We wouldn’t be mad at that.

Do you think Caroline might get a doppelganger? Would you her to? Sound off in the comments below!

The Vampire Diaries airs Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
