Our biggest takeaway from last night’s episode of The Vampire Diaries: Jeremy’s biceps need their own spin-off — or at least a failed backdoor pilot. We’ll take what we can get. Steven R. McQueen’s bod had a scene of shirtless, moonlit glory in Season 5, Episode 8 (“Dead Man on Campus”) as Jer and Bonnie finally got busy after episodes of ghost/human pining. If you can’t wait for the next shirtless Jeremy scene to get another look at those arms, then you can always happen over to Steven’s Twitter page — where he is keeping followers updated on his weightlifting regimen…

“#nightwingtraining,” Steven tweeted yesterday, along with a snapshot of himself lifting weights at the gym. Not to overstate the point or anything: but his arms are huge. But we digress. Steven has been campaigning for the role of Nightwing in CW’s superhero drama Arrow  and doing a great job of it. Not only has he been tweeting pics of his “Nightwing training” — as in, more than once — but he recently met up with some of the Arrow Powers That Be. “Had some superhero conversations with the executives this weekend @ARROWwriters,” he tweeted last wing, along with a photo from the writers’ room. Will this casting happen?

We love that Steven has figured out what he wants and is just going for it. Of course it helps that TVD executive producer Julie Plec is friends with Arrow executive producer Greg Berlanti (they created The Tomorrow People together), his go-get-em attitude is impressive.

Do you think Steven should get the role of Nightwing? How do you think his training is going?

The Vampire Diaries airs Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
