In the wake of Caroline and Elena’s falling-out over Damon, the perky blonde has decided to turn her attention toward her other bestie, Stefan. When The Vampire Diaries returns with Season 5, Episode 9 (“The Cell”), Stefan is still struggling with his PTSD, and Caroline hopes to help him overcome his anxiety with an unusual form of therapy — aka locking him back up in the safe of doom.

“I spent three months drowning in this thing. What the hell were you thinking?” Stefan tells Caroline in the sneak peek from “The Cell” below. “I was thinking it’s time for you to deal with the source of your PTSD,” she responds.

However, the conversation quickly turns to Caroline’s fight with Elena. Stefan insists Elena did what she had to do by killing Jesse, while Caroline believes Elena did what she “thought” she had to do — “just like she also thought that Damon was good boyfriend material.” Yikes! It looks like Caroline is still firmly on Team Stelena.

But Caroline quickly gets back to the task at hand: helping Stefan overcome his PTSD. While we’re sure Caroline’s method is going to be hard on Stefan, we’re excited to see these two share more screen time… even if it means one of them has to have constant panic attacks. Caroline and Stefan are becoming our new favorite (platonic) couple on The Vampire Diaries. And who knows — they might even become something more.
