Singing vampires, can you imagine anything better than that? Yeah, we didn’t think so. If there’s one thing we wish we could put on our Christmas list, it would have to be for our favorite CW show, The Vampire Diaries, to gift us a musical episode. Can that dream ever be realized? Luckily we have showrunner Julie Plec to weigh in on those chances!

“Anxiously awaiting season 9 of TVD so I can do a musical episode and not care if I get fired,” Julie tweeted today, December 12. Hmm, so it doesn’t sound like we’ll be getting it anytime soon, but there’s always hope, right?

We could really use some grand musical numbers from Elena (Nina Dobrev), Damon (Ian Somerhalder), and Stefan (Paul Wesley) to get through all of the crazy drama going on this season. Sure, we’re already through with all of the doppelganger drama, but this Augustine Society is really getting us down — those torture scenes take a lot out of us.

Plus, we think this would be a great idea for the show to try out. And hey, they wouldn’t be the first vampire show to try this strategy. If you recall, Buffy the Vampire Slayer pulled off a fabulous musical episode back in 2001 (“Once More, With Feeling”). We think with the excellent writing and characters on TVD, this could totally happen.

It’s not like this cast couldn’t pull off a musical episode. Candice Accola (Caroline), Kat Graham (Bonnie), and Steven R. McQueen (Jeremy) are amazing singers! Even Nina has had a little musical theater experience, though it was only her lip synching skills that were getting a workout back then. We have faith in this crew!
