We have to wait an agonizing six weeks until the next all new episode of The Vampire Diaries — but it sounds like it will be more than worth the wait as January 23 will bring us the 100th episode. That’s right, Season 5, Episode 11 (“500 Years of Solitude”) will bring us the big 1-0-0, and all signs point to it being epic. What did TVD showrunner Julie Plec just tease about it?

“Thx for watching the 99th ep. of The Vampire Diaries. Jan 23 will bring you ep. 100 and all the surprises you could ever wish for. #TVD100,” tweeted Julie after last night’s insane episode (Season 5, Episode 10: “Fifty Shades of Gilbert Grayson”). We’ve long been anticipating the 100th episode, but after last night’s breakup and heart attack, we’re dying to know what happens next!

We know that the 100th episode will bring us much ado about Katherine — not only in her present-day dying self, but in flashbacks to all of the wonderful memories she’s made over the year. As you may have noticed in the promo, the TVDers are reminiscing about all the times Katherine tried to kill them, so this has the makings of an excellent episode — as long as Katherine doesn’t actually bite it in the end. (Don’t do it, show!) Best part: We’ll get to see some familiar faces we have long since departed from this mortal coil and/or television show — i.e. Aunt Jenna and probably Klaus, to name a few. Bring on the “trip down memory lane!”

We’re hoping our chief surprise comes in the form of Katherine not dying. Other possible surprises: Katherine jumping into Elena’s body, Traveler-style; familiar faces we have actually forgotten about; and a rise of a Big Bad (our fingers are crossed for the resurrection of Gilbert Grayson, but some kind of Enzo and/or Dr. Wes power play would work, too).

What kinds of surprises are you hoping for in the 100th episode? Share your suggestions in the comments below!
