Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev is a skilled actress, but she only has so much time on her hands. Playing not one, but two of the main characters on TVD leaves time for little else — including playing other TVD characters. Otherwise, she totally would have played the newest vampire hottie on the block, Enzo. Don’t believe us? Just ask Nina!

“We asked @ninadobrev to be Enzo but she was all, ‘I don't want to do a British accent,’ TVD executive producer Caroline Dries tweeted yesterday, drawing her joke from the very serious fact that Nina has now played three separate characters on this show — sometimes all in one scene. How did Nina react to the joke?

“@carolinedries what are you talking about??? Then why would I have this iphone case?” Nina tweeted back, along with a snapshot of a iPhone case that read: “If I had a British accent, I’d never shut up.” OMG, is that Nina’s real iPhone case? We hope so. It is both amazing -- and kind of the perfect foil/continuation to Caroline’s joke. Caroline thought so, too!

“@ninadobrev HAHAHAHA. Whoops, now I'm remembering it right — You ASKED to be Enzo and we can only shoot 15 hours a day, so we had to say no,” Caroline tweeted. Yeah, sounds about right. Because we all know, if given the chance, Nina could and would play every single character on TVD — and be awesome at it. We would watch that show. (Though, we are glad TVD has brought the wonderful Michael Malarkey into our lives.)

Seriously, television gods: Now that Tatiana Maslany has been recognized for her doppelganger work with a Golden Globe nomination for the amazing clone drama Orphan Black, can we get Nina some love, too? OK, Thanks.

Do you think Nina would make a good Enzo? Sound off in the comments below.

The Vampire Diaries returns Thursday, January 23 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
